Adam Smith College – The Adam Smith College is the culmination of a recent merger between Fife College of Further and Higher Education and Glenrothes College. We provide learning opportunities to over 20,000 students per annum. The College works closely with other educational organisations, public authorities and with local industry to ensure that the training offered meets the needs of local, regional, national and international strategic objectives. We offer an extensive range of learning programmes from foundational through to degree and professional levels with the learning experience accessed through a variety of modes of study (including on−line/e−learning/m-learning). We have extensive experiences of pedagogic development, unique competencies in methodology development and production of practical solutions matching vocational and professional development needs.
The College has been actively working at a local, national and international level to develop and deliver new and innovative working practices that allows the SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) base to operate more competitively in the European and World Market places. We are currently leading the EQUAL “Workforce Adaptability” Theme in Scotland through the “Building Smart Communities” project. We are also a partner in the EQUAL Them C Entrepreneurship Development Partnership “ICONS” project where we have set up a Creative Business Centre (CBS) that has been developing innovative solutions for new business start ups. This project has enabled us to engage with existing ‘creative sector’ established business and encouraged a support network of like minded creative business for the CBC clients. Through research and networking with this business sector locally, Adam Smith College and the CBC have been lead players in the development of a recognised support network ‘Creative Fife’. www.creativefife.co.uk
