Adam Smith College joins iTunes U

Adam Smith College joins iTunes U (www.itunes.co.uk), a dedicated area of the iTunes Store that offers free audio and video content from leading educational institutions. Users can easily search, download and play course content just like they do music and movies on their computer or on-the-go with their iPod or iPhone.

Podcasts and videos supporting the college’s courses, from engineering and science to hair and beauty, are available for students to download for free through iTunes U, giving them an enhanced learning experience.

The launch of Adam Smith College on iTunes U ties in with a number of eLearning developments by the college’s European funded CREATE project, designed to improve access to Further Education and Lifelong Learning opportunities through managed learning environments, including an interactive TV station www.adamsmithcollege.tv and the first UK college channel on YouTube’s newly launched education network EDU.

Kevin Clark, Director of the CREATE Project at Adam Smith College, said: “We are dedicated to improving the learning experience for our students and placing the college at the forefront of developments in creative and innovative ways of teaching. iTunes U is a great initiative which offers students a familiar and engaging way to learn.

“We have already developed a wealth of content for the site including video demonstrations on how to use gym equipment, dance sequences, meeting skills and footage of the Adam Smith Lecture delivered by Kofi Annan last year. We look forward to creating more content to support and supplement courses at the college and offer new and existing students a truly 21st century learning experience.”
